Interview with Lizette Lizette

I recently got asked to interview Lizette Lizette and here’s what she had to say!

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m 22 years old, Swedish artist and producer. I’m very inspired by old school techno and eurodance from the 90’s.
Just as my music I’m very energetic and I kick the norms, conservatively and society in the balls with my Buffalo platforms.

So, initially what made you want to become a musician?

Creativity has been my whole world for as long as I can remember, and without it I would be like a faded flower.
Music saved my life as a lonely and unhappy teenager, and that’s when I started to dream of becoming an artist.
I can’t even imagine doing anything else.
I’m on the rebels and the outcasts side, and my aim is to inspire people to think on their own. Question society and get thecourage to go their own way, don’t do what’s expected of you. That is what’s going to make you happy in the long run.

What made you want to start producing your own music too?

I’ve always been a  visionary and a bit of a control freak, so in order to make my music sound just like I imagine it, I need to do it myself. And also, it’s a very creative process that I wouldn’t want to miss out on.

What was the inspiration behind your single ‘Wheel of Fortune’?

Wheel of fortune is a very special track for me. It just came to me in a blink of an eye and I wrote and produced it all in just a couple of days.
I wanted to inspire people to follow their dreams and take a chance. You have nothing to lose, and there is always a way. There’s so many people out there that  live their lives based on what’s expected of them. Life is an adventure and a learning experience, and in order to grow as a person you need to challenge yourself and take risks.

What musicians influence your music?

Opus III, Ace of Base, Leila K, Orbital and Antiloop! I also get very inspired by unknown acid house and eurodance, most of it British. I also think that a lot of my influences hang on from the time when I was Goth, in my teens. I love melancholic melodies and dark, heavy sounds like from EBM and industrial music.

Who do you dream of collaborating with?

I would love to work with Orbital or Underworld, but also with Björk! I imagine that her way of thinking and her creativity is very inspiring. It seems like she always thinks outside the box and always is looking for new things, and that is something that I’m also trying to do.

What makes you stand out from other artists?

I’m always one step ahead, I hate trends and I’m always looking for the opposite. If something is really unfashionable and forgotten, I’ll go for it. I love what’s considered ugly and tacky, I think it’s fierce! But I’m afraid that the trends are now starting to catch up with me, which I find a bit annoying. Everybody has bindis, nath (Indian nose ring) and platforms now a days.
And unfortunately it still is very unusual for female artists to write and produce their music by themselves, which also is one thing that sets me apart from the others.

What can we expect to see from you in the future?

You’re definitely going to see more of me! My hopes and dreams is to be successful as an artist and producer, I want to inspire and empowering as many people as possible to be brave and true to themselves.
