In this lesson, we mainly focused on Audio Post Production. At the start of the lesson we watched clips of two films, The Lost World and The Dark Night Rises, in order to see how the sound has changed over time.
We then looked at what is contained what Audio Post Production is and what is contained within it, such as:
- Dialogue editing
- ADR – Automated Dialogue Replacement
- Sound effects, editing & design
- Foley recording (human sound effects recorded in sync with picture)
- Music composition & editing
- Mixing (re-recording)
We also looked at Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) and went over the main DAW software which was:
- Steinberg Cubase
- Logic Pro
- Soundtrack Pro
- Pro Tools
We learn that Soundtrack Pro would be the computer software that we would be using, and we then had to open up the software and import the recordings we had created from last week. After importing them, we got chance to learn the software and create a sequence of sound, adding effects such as delay and distortion.
